This everlasting luster comes from the unique natural mineral pigment technique of Thangka, which is the soul of every hand-painted piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike modern synthetic pigments, all colors used in traditional Thangka are derived from nature. Artists grind minerals from sacred mountains into azurite and malachite, extract pure red hues from coral and agate, and hammer gold leaf repeatedly to make anti-oxidant gold paint. All raw materials go through multiple grinding, rinsing and sedimentation processes before being mixed with animal glue for painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Creating a Thangka is a spiritual practice. A small Thangka pendant requires complicated and rigorous procedures, including sketching, line drawing, layered coloring, figure finishing and gold outlining. It usually takes weeks or even months to finish.
